Rev your Mini engines for The Italian Job 2018 – registration now OPEN!

Only 100 classic cars and Minis can take part – so hurry if you want to secure your place in the essential fixture of the classic car enthusiasts’ calendar

Fans of the iconic ‘The Italian Job’ film, staring Michael Caine, can now relive the experience and help raise funds to support the 4m children in the UK living in poverty.

Star of BBC Strictly Come Dancing and ITV’s Judge Rinder, Rob Rinder, has pushed the button on registration for ‘The Italian Job Charity/Celebrity Touring Event’ - a Mini adventure taking place in Italy this Summer.

It doesn’t matter what type of Mini you own, classic or modern, all are welcome along with any of the other classic cars featured in the film (i.e. Fiat 500, Alfa Giulia, E-Type Jaguar, Aston Martin DB4, London Cab, Fiat Dino Coupe, Lamborghini Miura).  Mini and classic car enthusiasts from all over the UK, Europe and further afield are now invited to join the charity fund-raising trip of a lifetime, following in the tyre tracks of Michael Caine’s 1969 caper film, through the Swiss Alps, across Italy and even onto the rooftop test track of the world famous Fiat factory building in Turin.

The 2018 adventure starts with cars being flagged of in Imola on Saturday 27th October where you will explore Emilia Romagna; the land of Ducati, Lamborghini and Ferrari before going onto visit cities including Bologna, Modena and Revenna and then heading North to the finishing line in Turin via Monza.  100 MINI and/or classic car enthusiasts will head for the starting line before spending 7 adventure filled days driving well off the beaten track through beautiful un-spoilt scenery avoiding major roads to discover the magic of real Italy.

On route you will participate in a navigational Reliability Trial, an Italian Automobile Club sanctioned event, which puts your driving skills and navigational ability to the test, with penalty points awarded for any errors of skill, precision or timekeeping.  In previous years, ‘Jobbers’ approach these trials variously as either an enjoyable bit of fun or with a more honed competitive edge! The winning team is that which receives the fewest number of penalties.

For the first time next year a host of celebrities will be joining the event  – names to be announced in due course.

The cost of this unique adventure holiday (based on 2 people in a each car) is £895 per person inclusive of: 6 nights in 4-star hotel accommodation (x4 in Imola and 2 in Turin); daily breakfast, luncheon and dinner with local wines included; ferry crossings (Dover-Calais-Dover); exclusive visits to local vineyards and racing circuits; assistance & escorting; parking fee; service & taxes.  Full details at www.italianjob.com.

The Italian Job has already raised over £2.5 million for children’s charities and next year the main beneficiary will by the grant giving charity Buttle UK.

Rally originator and organizer Freddie St George commented on the unique holiday experience, “we offer a totally unique, action-packed experience including driving on International Grand Prix Circuits, enjoying off-the-beaten-track places, exclusive visits and being led in convoy by traffic police through busy city center’s. All the time we’re raising desperately needed funds for Buttle UK, helping to transform the lives and well being of children all over the UK.”

Gerri McAndrew, CEO of Buttle UK added, “These are particularly tough times for families that are struggling and we know the numbers of children living in poverty are rising all the time. We hope that any Mini owner will seriously consider taking part next year and help make a real difference to over 1000 children. It is certainly a fun way to help children and what’s more 100% of any sponsorship money raised next year will go directly to helping these children in need and to give them a chance in life.”

You are urged to book your place now at www.italianjob.com.  Places are strictly limited to 100 Minis and/or classic cars that featured in the original film.

Raising a targeted £1,500 per car for Buttle UK is a condition of entry (this equates to 10 beds per car for a child in need).  Full rules and regulations together with detailed itinerary will be forwarded when you book your holiday.

The Italian Job 2018 starts on October 27th and reaches the finishing line on November 2nd.

BUTTLE UK

Buttle UK provided £3.9 million in individual grants to nearly 30,000 children and young people last year, preventing them from falling further into crisis and helping them to transform their lives.  They are the largest grant-awarding charity to provide financial support direct to individual children and young people in the UK. Whether Buttle UK gives a bed to a child who has had to sleep on the floor, counseling to a young boy who has fled an abusive home with his mother or a laptop to support a homeless teenager begin their first college course, their direct, efficient and intelligent grants are always focused on the needs of the individual. Buttle UK was established in 1953 following the death of Frank Buttle, an East End clergyman, who raised nearly £1m to help ‘launch children from poverty into life’. Since then, the money has been re-invested and multiplied countless times and ways. As the charity has grown, so has its capacity to make positive change.  This unique legacy means that 100% of any monies raised goes directly to give children a chance www.buttleuk.org
